Materials Technology
In all fields of competence, the aim is to correlate microstructure and mechanical properties in order to be able to make predictions about material behaviour and ultimately to carry out targeted material design. The research topics in the area of materials technology are dealt with in three fields of competence:
Materials Processing
The Materials Processing Group investigates the processes and properties of steels during production and subsequent treatment.
Materials Characterization
The Materials Characterization group concentrates on the determination of properties with modern testing methods up to methodological developments. In addition to classical testing methods, this also includes an in-depth understanding of the nanoscale and atomic mechanisms that control phase transformation and mechanical deformation.
Integrated Computational Materials Engineering
Research in the Integrative Computational Materials Engineering Group is aimed at the numerical modeling of microstructures and properties along process chains.
