Steel Institute VDEh

The aim of the Stahlinstitut VDEh is the promotion of technical-scientific and technical-economic cooperation in the development of steel and steel technology. The basis of the activity of the steel institute VDEh is the exchange of experience in technical and scientific committees. The VDEh has a wide network with national as well as international institutions. The IEHK is involved in various specialist committees of the VDEh and is involved in the continuing education activities of the Stahl-Akademie.

The research tasks and the expectation of industrial partners increasingly require an interdisciplinary cooperation across the specialist areas. For this reason, the Institute for Metal Forming (IBF), Institute for Automotive Engineering (IKA), Institute for Welding and Joining (ISF), Institute for Steel and Light Metal Construction (STB), the Surface Engineering Institute (IOT), and the Steel Institute (IEHK) have been set up in the non-profit center for Metallische Bauweisen (zmb). This leads to a combination of specialist competencies in different areas and thus offers the possibility to present close-linked process chains, from material selection to the finished component.
